People are the asset which ultimately makes organisations unique. This applies to our clients as well as to FXL.

Our Management Training Consultants have been rigorously selected firstly for their professional experience: they have all had successful business careers prior to joining FXL. This means that they have a tremendous amount of experience to draw on, as they engage with our clients.

Alongside experience, our Management Training Consultants have been selected because they share the same Values, the most important being a real passion for developing people and organisations.

Finally, every Management Training Consultant is trained for a minimum of six months before working with clients. This training is an essential and very intensive period of observation, practice and coaching. This means that our people’s standard of facilitation, which is one of FXL’s trademarks, is second to none.

Steve Hardy, Chairman
Steve established FXL (previously known as Excel Training Services) in 1989. Since then he has developed the company to its current position as a leader in the management development field. Previously with Mars Confectionery, he worked for 13 years in a variety of line and senior customer management roles.

Steve works with many of our corporate clients supporting their organisational development. His passion is enabling organisation culture change and senior management capability development, coaching groups of directors and individuals.

Steve enjoys golf and is always eager to visit a new course. He also has a passion for Rugby Union and Man Utd. He is married to Val and they have one grown-up daughter, Sarah, and a Bichon Frise called Toby.

Chris May, Managing Director
Chris joined FXL in 1998 from Allied Domecq Italy, where he ran a Key Account Management project with McKinsey.

Previously he spent 13 years working for Coca Cola, Inbev and Phillip Morris in roles such as International Key Account Director, Trade Marketing Controller, National Account Manager and field Sales Manager.

As Managing Director at FXL, Chris works with senior contacts at current and new clients, heads up projects and oversees the day to day management of the Company.

Occasionally he relaxes. Time out is spent renovating the house, speaking to his family in near-perfect Italian (to their annoyance) and developing a long term training programme for his twin 5 year old boys.

Wyn Morgan, Management Training Consultant
Wyn is fulfilling a career vision formed in April 1996, when he attended an FXL workshop.

He joined FXL in 2004. Previously with BUPA, Walkers Snacks and United Biscuits, he has held roles in Field Sales, Category and Customer Management and latterly as Senior Training Manager.

Wyn takes a balanced and pragmatic view of the commercial functions within our clients, and firmly believes that comprehensive Training and Development activity, supported by follow through and coaching deliver long term business results.

In addition to running commercial programmes, Wyn specializes in Coaching and Personal Development, he is a certified NLP Practitioner and seeks to adapt his facilitation style to the learning styles of individuals and enable them to achieve their full potential.

Wyn claims to enjoy ‘trying out new experiences’ in his spare time. We haven’t asked for details, though last year he made his first sky-dive and recorded a CD (not at the same time). If that wasn’t enough he is also a proud Welsh speaker.

Nigel Shackleton, Management Training Consultant
Nigel joined FXL in 2005 following six years at Masterfoods Europe (Mars Inc) where he held roles in Global R&D, Sales and Distribution and wide responsibility within the Company’s European drinks business.

Within FXL, Nigel has been able to realise his passion for coaching and personal development, drawing on his wide experience to apply creative and innovative techniques to unlock the individual’s potential.

A feet on the ground Yorkshireman through and through, Nigel ‘says what ‘e likes and likes what ‘e says’. He also plays squash, but don’t let anyone back home know.
